Atrapa-sons

Què vol dir escoltar una respiració? Escoltem la respiració de les persones que estimem. La dels qui dormen i volem vetllar. O la d’aquells que, fràgils o malalts, necessiten el nostre silenci perquè puguin reposar i guarir-se.

Atrapa-sons vol escoltar la respiració del Delta a través d’un objecte singular: el bussó. Entre desembre i març, aquest estri passa les nits submergit a les aigües properes a la desembocadura de l’Ebre. És una trampa de pesca que, amb una petita llum, atrau al seu interior un peix molt preuat: la cria de l’anguila —l’angula o anguileta.

Fora de la temporada de pesca, i fora de l’aigua, els bussons d’aquesta exposició atrapen sons i somnis. Respiren la nit del riu, sons i brogits gravats durant set nits al moll de Balada, en el marc de la residència Eufònic/Lo Pati.

A l’interior, s’hi mou una imatge: el tremolor de la lluna. Els antics conten que, en lluna plena, l’anguiletano entra dins la trampa. Aquí, la lluna ens acosta a la boca del bussó, convertint l’objecte en un espai; un parany i, alhora, un refugi que respira.

Davant el son de l’altre, guardem silenci. Xiuxiuegem. Aguaitem. Com qui camina’ sobre un vidre que pot esberlar-se amb un sol soroll. Els pescadors en diuen ‘no fer tropell’.

El bussó adormit també ens ensenya a ‘no fer tropell’: una forma de cura i d’atenció que no parla només de la fragilitat de la pesca d’angula, sinó de la vulnerabilitat de tot el Delta —un territori ferit que continua respirant sota la nostra mirada.

Sound-catchers

What does it mean to listen to a breath? We listen to the breath of the people we love. Of those who sleep and whom we wish to watch over. Or of those who, fragile or ill, need our silence so they can rest and heal.

Sound-catcher seeks to listen to the breath of the Delta through a singular object: the bussó. Between December and March, this device spends the nights submerged in the waters near the mouth of the Ebro. It is a fishing trap that, with a small light, lures inside a highly prized fish: the young eel — the elver, or glass eel.

Outside the fishing season, and out of the water, the bussons of this exhibition catch sounds and dreams. They breathe the night of the river, sounds and murmurings recorded over seven nights at the Balada dock, within the framework of the Eufònic/Lo Pati residency.

Inside, an image moves: the trembling of the moon. The elders say that, during the full moon, the elver does not enter the trap. Here, the moon draws us closer to the mouth of the bussó, turning the object into a space; both a snare and, at the same time, a refuge that breathes.

Before another’s sleep, we keep silent. We whisper. We linger. Like someone walking on glass that could shatter at the slightest sound. Fishermen call it no fer tropell — not making a disturbance, not stepping on.

The sleeping bussó also teaches us to no fer tropell: a form of care and attention that speaks not only of the fragility of eel fishing, but also of the vulnerability of the entire Delta — a wounded land that continues to breathe under our gaze.
